The well was quiet today
Allowing me to hear the difference of wind
In understory,
Deciduous,
And
Conifer.
No tinkling of water
But a percussion of spruce and fir,
Black walnut,
Burdock, goldenrod, foxtail,
Interjected with jays, red tails, goldfinches
Not to be outdone, forgotten, or silenced,
As vulture wings, twirls, winds
The wind.
The wind
Unbidden, effortless:
Licking cloud and earth,
Lifting bird, bough, and prayer
Kissing skin and cochlea,
Tickling tiny hairs,
Simultaneous.
Gifting the one who Notices
Sits
Still.
